Abstract

A comparison between a multi-mode multi-port antenna (M³PA) and crossed dipole antenna is carried out with special emphasis on beamforming performance in single and multi-beam scenarios for e.g., Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) applications. A M³PA with 4 ports is generated by exploiting degeneracy based on symmetry. The M³PA array is compared to a crossed dipole array at millimeter wave frequencies using a rectangular array topology. Advantages of the M³PA array in wide-angle steering scenarios over crossed dipole arrays are evaluated.
