Abstract

A discrete low-cost microwave voltage doubler/full way rectifier operating in the 2.45 and 5.8 GHz ISM bands will be presented. The rectifier is mounted on planar waveguide-toplanar transitions to supply wireless passive short-range systems like transponders and sensors embedded in metallic objects. Antenna requirements analysis, simulations of rectifier performances in consideration of computed antenna properties as well as measurement results of rectifiers integrated in metallic objects will be presented. The realized rectifiers achieve RF -toDC conversion efficiencies closed to 25 % in both 2.45 and 5.8 GHz ISM bands.
